Tesco Distribution Centre, Livingston: porous parking bays lifted and reconstructed.
The job
We lifted and reconstructed the porous parking bays at Tesco’s distribution centre in Livingston.
About the area
Tesco’s distribution centre is on Carnegie Road in the Deans area of Livingston, near the M8, in the West Lothian Council area. Livingston is West Lothian’s administrative centre, about 15 miles from Edinburgh. The depot is about 20 miles by road from our yard at Bilston Glen, Loanhead.
Nearby work
Nearby, our work includes the A899 Houston Interchange, Dean Plant Yard, Beveridge Square and our Hapas joint repairs across West Lothian.
What this kind of job involves
Porous parking bays let rainwater drain straight through to the ground below, so they’re built differently from ordinary paving, with an open stone layer beneath the surface that has to stay clean. Reconstruction usually means lifting the surface and stone layers, replacing any contaminated material and re-laying to the original falls. Silt and fine dust clog the voids, so the work is normally kept clear of other site operations.
