Dean Plant Yard, Bathgate: forming new yard space.
The job
We formed new yard space at Dean Plant Yard in Bathgate.
About the area
Bathgate is the second-largest town in West Lothian, in the West Lothian Council area, about 5 miles west of Livingston and beside the M8. About 23,600 people live there. It’s about 24 miles by road from our yard at Bilston Glen, Loanhead.
Nearby work
Close to Bathgate, we’ve also worked at Tesco’s distribution centre and Standhill Farm, and on our Hapas joint repairs across West Lothian.
What this kind of job involves
A yard for plant and vehicles takes much heavier loads than a car park, so the sub-base is usually built deeper and compacted more carefully, and the surface is chosen to cope with tracked machines and turning lorries. Drainage is planned early because a yard gets dirty and wet, and falls are set to keep standing water away from the entrances.
