KDM, Dalgety Bay: pothole repair works.
The job
We carried out pothole repair works for KDM in Dalgety Bay, Fife.
About the area
Dalgety Bay is a coastal town in Fife, on the north shore of the Firth of Forth about 9 miles from Edinburgh city centre, in the Fife Council area. It is almost joined to Inverkeithing. By road, it’s about 24 miles from our yard at Bilston Glen, Loanhead.
Nearby work
Across the Forth, we’ve worked at the BP garage at Newbridge, RBS Gogarburn and the Gyle Shopping Centre.
What this kind of job involves
A proper pothole repair isn’t just filling the hole. The damaged patch is cut back to a square-edged box in sound material, cleaned, tack-coated and filled with asphalt in compacted layers, which gives a patch that stays put where loose material tipped in may last only weeks. On busy roads, a temporary cold-lay repair is sometimes used first and made permanent later.
