ABOUT
About Crummock.
An established surfacing and civil engineering contractor based in Edinburgh, delivering projects across Scotland, England and Ireland.
CRUMMOCK SURFACING
Partnership and performance. Both, or neither works.
Partnership means working closely with clients, contractors, site teams and everyone else involved, for the whole of a project rather than at the start of it. Good communication matters. So does being responsive when programmes change, when access becomes difficult, or when a project needs a practical solution to keep work moving.
Performance means delivering the work properly. Clients rely on us to meet agreed programmes, hold standards and complete projects safely. We understand the pressure on live sites, public roads, retail environments and busy commercial premises, where disruption has to be controlled and work has to progress as planned.
What that adds up to is a practical approach built on doing what we said we would do.
Surfacing is rarely just laying asphalt.
Existing surfaces, drainage, levels, access, traffic, weather, programme constraints and the condition of the construction underneath all shape the work. Experienced teams spot those things early and deal with them properly, which is the difference between a job that runs and one that stalls.
CLIENTS
Who we work for.
We work with local authorities, principal contractors, commercial organisations, retailers, property managers and anyone else who needs surfacing, road marking or civil engineering they can depend on.
The work runs from road and footway surfacing through to retail and commercial projects, line marking, joint repairs and the civil engineering that goes with them. Every project brings its own constraints, which is why we start by understanding the site, the programme and the wider requirement before anything begins.
Some sites need work done outside normal operating hours. Others need phasing so businesses, residents or road users can carry on around it. Some need several trades working alongside each other. Those details usually decide whether a project runs smoothly, and our job is to understand them before we arrive.
STANDARDS
Standards that hold across every site.
Our management systems support consistent standards across surfacing, road marking and civil engineering. Crummock holds recognised certification covering quality management, environmental management and occupational health and safety, alongside the industry accreditations relevant to the work.
Those standards give clients confidence in the systems behind the finished work. They also support something that matters more: a company-wide responsibility for quality, safety and continuous improvement, so work is done correctly the first time.
Safety gets the same attention. Surfacing and civil engineering happen alongside moving vehicles, pedestrians, construction activity and the public, so planning and site management matter from the first day rather than the first incident. Environmental responsibility works the same way. Reducing waste, using resources sensibly and managing impact are part of planning a project, not an afterthought once it’s finished.
REACH
Based in Edinburgh. Working a good deal further out.
Our teams deliver work throughout Scotland, England and Ireland, which gives us experience across different site types, client requirements, operating environments and project scales. That reach means we can support a single commercial location, a regional resurfacing programme, or projects spread across several areas, with the same approach to planning, communication and delivery.
One example: cobbled streets for the City of Edinburgh Council, where the work needed more than conventional surfacing. Existing materials had to be lifted, handled and reinstated, with residents, access and the character of the street all taken into account.
