Cameron Toll Shopping Centre, Edinburgh: excavations reinstated after archaeology works for Historic Scotland.

The job

Historic Scotland carried out archaeology works within the Cameron Toll car park, and we were asked to reinstate the excavations. The team cleared all the dig out from site, then saw cut and squared off every excavation. We installed 100mm of 20mm binder and formed a step joint by cold milling, before machine laying 10mm Enhanced carpave and overbanding all the joints. Our lining crew then reinstated the road markings within the working area, and a final road sweep completed the works.

Working on site

The excavations were spread across a shopping centre car park, so every one had to be made good to the same standard and finished flush with the surrounding surface. Our surfacing operatives went further and stripped the working area, stacking the traffic management neatly for the supplier to uplift.
