St Davids Walking Route, Dalkeith: tactile paving and footpath works.
The job
We carried out tactile paving and footpath works on the St Davids walking route in Dalkeith.
About the area
Dalkeith is a market town on the River Esk in Midlothian, the main administrative centre for the Midlothian Council area, with about 15,000 residents. It lies south-east of Edinburgh, with the A68 and A7 both close by. It’s about 7 miles by road from our yard at Bilston Glen, Loanhead.
Nearby work
Close to Dalkeith, we’ve also worked at Gorebridge Toll, the Town and King’s Gates and Mayfield Community Campus.
What this kind of job involves
Walking routes tie together homes, schools and shops, so the work usually concentrates on the details that make them usable: dropped kerbs at crossings, tactile paving where it’s needed, and a firm, even footpath surface. Works are normally programmed to keep a pedestrian route open or clearly signed, and each finished length is opened as soon as it’s ready.
