Nivensknowe Caravan Park, Loanhead: the park’s access road resurfaced.
The job
We surfaced the caravan park’s access road at Nivensknowe in Loanhead.
About the area
Nivensknowe is a residential park home site off the A701 Edinburgh to Penicuik road, about a mile south of the city bypass at the Straiton exit, in Loanhead in the Midlothian Council area. Loanhead is a Midlothian town in the commuter belt south of Edinburgh, and Bilston Glen is now an industrial estate. The park is under a mile by road from our yard.
Nearby work
Nearby, we’ve also worked at Asda Straiton, the Strathesk walking route and McDonald’s at Cameron Toll.
What this kind of job involves
Where people live on a site all year round, an access road can’t simply be closed. Surfacing is usually done in sections, with each length coned off and the neighbouring lengths kept clear so residents, deliveries and emergency vehicles can still get through. Pitch entrances, drainage falls and any speed-limiting features all need to be right before the final surface goes down.
