Mayfield Community Campus, Mayfield: car park and footway surfacing.
The job
We carried out the car park and footway surfacing works at Mayfield Community Campus.
About the area
Mayfield is a community just south of Dalkeith in Midlothian, between the A68 and the A7, in the Midlothian Council area. Mayfield Learning Community Campus is on the site, with its primary schools and community facilities together. It’s about 6 miles by road from our yard at Bilston Glen, Loanhead.
Nearby work
Close to Mayfield, we’ve also worked on Gorebridge Toll, the Co-op car park in Newtongrange and the A7 at the Sun Inn.
What this kind of job involves
On a school campus, work usually has to fit around term time, with drop-off and pick-up times kept clear. Car parks and footways are normally built after the main building works so site traffic doesn’t damage them, and pedestrian routes are kept separate from vehicles at every stage. Accessible bays and crossing points need setting out carefully before the surface goes on.
